When are the workshops?
Workshops run throughout the year and require you to have logged at least 1 hour to attend. Our communications masterclass always runs close to the interview date so you get the most out of it. We try to run our workshops when you are free in the summer and during term breaks. To see our workshop dates log in regularly to your profile and take a look at your HeadStart guide for further information.
Are all workshops compulsory?
Some corporate partners require you to attend their workshop in order to be interviewed by them. We recommend attending all HeadStart workshops as they are designed to further develop your skills, knowledge, and understanding. Our feedback from other young people shows that by attending the workshops candidates feel more prepared for their interview.
Can I attend the Workshops if I haven't completed the 16 hours?
Once you have logged one hour of volunteering, you are eligible to attend workshops.
How many workshops will I be invited along to?
You will be invited to attend two workshops, one about communication skills, the other one specific to the employer you will choose for the interview.
Is there a dress code for the workshops?
Workshops do not have a specific dress code but we would advise smart/casual, make sure that you feel comfortable.
I'm in full-time education. Will this affect my chances of attending interviews and workshops?
Don't worry, our employers know that a lot of HeadStart candidates are often in full-time education. All of our employers ask that you think about your availability and how many hours per week you can commit to. Check your young person guide for further information on the availability each employer requires.
